Zephyr Thomas is the co-founder Writing director, and Audio producer for Hidden Bird Media. He’s the author of Euphony of Seasons and the Torchmouth Saga books, as well as the Wild West creature-taming saga Frontier Flora. He specializes in positive, uplifting stories for the whole family, with signature humor, style, and hope. He also narrates most of what he produces. Also, he can clap with one hand.
There are several other interviews with Zephyr out there, but since they’re about specific stories, they’re linked to on the respective pages.

From the beginning of our creative journey in 2023, our publishing “imprint” was known as ZMT Books. This came from Zephyr’s first name (Z), Michelle’s first name (M), and our family name (T). This served us well, until it became clear that audio productions were going to become our primary product, along with stories that just don’t quite fit under the label of “book.”
In April 2026, the Hidden Bird Media brand was revealed, reflecting the change to new kinds of stories, as well as inviting other creators into the fold for the first time. But don’t worry, dropping books from the name doesn’t mean printed books are going anywhere!
The bird itself comes from a legend passed down through the ages about the construction of a great cathedral in Europe. One of the wealthy nobles was touring the building to see what his money was paying for. He came upon an artisan carving a bird into a wooden beam, but it was clear that his work would be covered up by another beam soon. The noble asked him why he was spending all of that effort for something that no one would ever see, and his response was, “but God sees.”
Our intent has always been to tell stories, not to sell them. What we create is superversive enough that we will probably never “make it big” and sell thousands of books or get millions of views. But that isn’t why we do it. Our work is meant to glorify God, not ourselves, and its existence is enough to fulfill that goal.
